The Xtreme
high performance range of diving hoses has been developed in
cooperation with expert divers for a superior in depth performance. A
team of Miflex 2 engineers analysed the low point of traditional low
pressure diving hoses. The fruit of their research is the Xtreme high performance range. Xtreme
hoses feature an external nylon safety braiding designed to resist the
snags and abrasions that divers often encounter. The patent-pending
Xtreme double braiding also resists UV rays out of the water, thus
extending the life span of the hoses. Unlike the traditional hoses, the Xtreme
nylon safety braiding is not simply pushed over the hose fittings.
Instead the braiding is tightly bound and fixed to the hose core by
stainless steel or brass sleeves. The result? Performance and durability
in extreme situations. Tie the Xtreme hose in a tight knot and the flow of air remains continuous through the hose. Now that’s versatility! The Xtreme
also achieves a higher burst pressure – more than double when compared
to most traditional hoses. And in the event of a physical breach, Xtreme hoses actually work to reduce the amount of air lost. How? The advance Xtreme nylon safety braiding actively shrinks under pressure, reducing the rate of air loss and buying valuable time. Xtreme
hose production is carried out on automatic assembly and testing lines
designed and manufactured exclusively by Miflex. Each and every Xtreme
hose is subjected to more than 30 individual safety and specification
checks. Any hose found not to meet the exact Miflex standard is
immediately scrapped.
Inspection and Use of Miflex Xtreme LP diving hoses
- Miflex
Xtreme LP diving hoses are high performance hoses which are lighter and
more flexible than traditional diving hoses. Just like carbon fibre has
advantages over steel, carbon fibre performs differently and must be
cared for and used differently than steel. Likewise, careful use and
inspection is critical to the safe use of your Miflex Xtreme LP diving
hose.
-
While
in storage, or during transport of your hoses to or from storage, your
hoses could become damaged in a number of ways. Never use your hose as a
carrying or hanging handle for the tank. Before every dive, carefully
inspect your hoses for damage, wear and tear. Pay particular attention
to the area near the fittings. If your hoses show any sign of wear, no
matter how slight, immediately replace the hose.
-
During
a dive, and unknown to you, your hoses could be caught on sharp rocks,
twisted or subjected to other stresses. After every dive, carefully
inspect your hoses for damage, wear and tear. Pay particular attention
to the area near the fittings.
-
Never
leave your hoses dangling with any regulator installed, especially when
they are without pressure. Always secure the hoses to your jacket with
hooks or straps, but leave sufficient freedom for movement. These hooks
or straps should be fixed directly to the regulator, or close to the
hose fittings.
-
Never
secure your hose in a manner which could constantly flex or bend in the
same location (i.e. create a “hinge effect”). Continuous bending at the
same pivot point will shorten the life of your hose.
-
Never
over-flex your hose. Never fold the hose back onto itself. If your hose
is too long, you may loop it and secure it in place with a section of
rubber tubing (such as the inner tube of a bicycle tire). However, the
minimum bending radius must be at least 3.5 times the outer diameter of
the hose. For example, if the outer diameter of your hose is 12mm, then
the minimum bending radius (as measured to the inside of the hose) is 42
mm.
-
Never allow the weight of your air tank to impact or rest on any part of your hose.
- To prevent personal injury and damage, install the low pressure hose ONLY into a low pressure outlet of the first stage regulator
