Submersible Systems introduces a safety product specifically designed for the extreme water-sport enthusiast. The Spare Air™ Xtreme sport uses the same proven technology that SCUBA divers have using since the sport became popular. For over 23 years, divers around the world have used Spare Air to perform self-rescues and to save others where only a few extra breaths are necessary to prevent drowning. The HEED version of the Spare Air has been helping the Military, Firemen and other rescue personnel save lives in land rescue situations.

Over the years, kayakers, surfers and other water-sportsmen have been using the Spare Air as a rescue safety device. Their only complaint - they needed something that was "hands free." The Xtreme sport solves this by reducing the size of the air tank and mounting the unit in a neoprene vest in a chest pocket. Now your next breath is only inches away.

The Heart of the Spare Air Xtreme Sport

The Xtreme Sport works like any standard SCUBA Regulator. All you have to do is insert the mouthpiece into your mouth and breathe normally.

Regulator Body - Our simple rugged design utilizes the same time proven technology found in typical regulators used by SCUBA Divers around the world. Our always-on, breathe on demand, balanced single stage regulator is easy to maintain and service.

Pressure Indicator - The standard indicator is easy to read by the White Indicator Pin rising up when the Spare Air has filled to 3000psi. A Dial Gauge Pressure Indicator is available as an optional accessory.

Purge Button - Clears the regulator and empties the Air Tank.

Mouthpiece - Standard regulator mouthpiece carried by SCUBA Diving Shops everywhere and is the same model used on most regulators.

Check Valve Refilling Port - Remove the cover and attach the yoke style Refill Adapter (patent pending). Attach the other end to a filled SCUBA tank and in 30-60 seconds, your Spare Air is full.

3000 PSI Aluminum Tank - This SCUBA tank is manufactured just like standard SCUBA tanks, with the same safety features. The cylinder should be inspected annually.

How does it work?	Like a standard SCUBA regulator, just insert the mouthpiece, blow out any water and breathe normally.
How do I mount it?	The Neoprene mounting vest is included. Wear alone, over a wetsuit or under another vest.
How much air will it give me?	It varies based on an individual’s lung capacity, approximately 10-15 breaths on average. It will give you enough air to get out of an emergency where you are held underwater for a short period of time. See specifications for more details.
Is it reusable?	Yes, with the optional refill adapter (patent pending) it can be refilled from a scuba tank, and if you are a certified diver you can bring it to any Spare Air scuba dealer to have it refilled
How much does it weigh?	At only 2 lb. (for both breathing unit and vest)You won’t even know you are wearing it!!!

This is very misleading. No scuba shop will fill your Spare Air unless you are scuba certified. And while you can fill these from a scuba tank, you cannot get a filled scuba tank unless you are certified.

Any certified diver should be leery of allowing a non-certified person filling a Spare Air from their tank. Giving compressed air to someone who is not scuba trained is extremely dangerous and could lead to instant death.
